What to Expect

What To Expect When Worshipping At Pontoppidan

We have two services on Sunday mornings. The early service at 9:00 am is a traditional service with just a touch of the contemporary. The later service at 11:00 am [10:30 am during the summer] is a contemporary service with just a touch of the traditional.

Both services have songs to praise God, a time for the confession of our sins and the hearing of forgiveness, Scripture readings, a teaching on the Scripture, and a time for prayers. Communion is celebrated the first and third Sundays of the month (we also offer grape juice).

We will do all we can so that you can lay your distractions aside, and spend time in the presence of the living God, who loves you deeply.

What to Wear

Some like to dress up for worship. Others dress very casually. You are welcome to come in whatever makes you comfortable. If you are a gentleman who feels most comfortable when he looks like the rest of the guys, then navy blue Dockers and a white shirt (no tie) will put you right in the middle of the crowd. Some ladies wear a dress, but most wear dressy pants and a nice blouse. On any given Sunday at least six men and women will be in jeans and two men will be in a coat and tie.

Worshipers tend to dress up more for the 9 AM service, and tend to dress down for the 11 AM. Either way, God is more concerned with what we bring in our hearts, not on the clothes that we wear. St Paul said, “Since God chose you to be the holy people whom he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.” [Colossians 3:12]
